Marco Andretti tops fourth day of practice for Indianapolis 500

Marco Andretti is convinced that the Andretti Autosport team is in good shape for next weekend's Indy 500 after topping the fourth day of practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Andretti's 40.2367s lap was clocked at 223.676mph, putting him just ahead of Penske's Helio Castroneves (222.025mph) and his Andretti team-mate James Hinchcliffe (221.864mph), and he said that he was delighted with how his car was developing.

"I'm really pleased with where we are at with the race car so far," Andretti said. "I have just been really working on the car in a pack, and just trying to stay flat in traffic.

"We have the car to the point now that I am confident to say we would be the ones to beat if the race was today."

It was a tougher day for the race's high-profile rookies. Rubens Barrichello was left 29th fastest in his KV Racing entry, and said that he was struggling to unlock the car's pace.

"We are still trying different things but just can't find the speed," he said. "However, what was good today was learning to run in traffic, which I haven't really been able to do much of, and working out my lines. We have another day of practice tomorrow, so we will see what it brings."

Meanwhile, Fan Force United's Jean Alesi did not run at all after the team opted to do some work on his Lotus engine. The former Benetton and Ferrari F1 driver expects to be back out on track on Wednesday.
