Johan Kristofferson leads Imola Superstars practice

Johan Kristofferson kicked off the second round of the 2012 International Superstars Series at Imola in style, leading in the way in free practice one

In what was a dominant display from the Audi Sport team, the Swedish driver emerged at the top of the timesheets early in the session. With 10 minutes to go his team-mate Gianni Morbidelli took top spot, only for Kristofferson to leap back in front with a 1m51.396s late in the session.

Having languished in the middle of the times for most of the session, Dinamic BMW driver Thomas Biagi split the two Audi RS5s in the dying minutes of the session with a 1m51.924s effort, while Morbidelli, who was already in the pits by that stage, was forced to settle for third.

Debutant Christian Fittipaldi was an impressive fourth fastest in the Swiss Team Maserati, ahead of Stefano Gabellini (Dinamic BMW), Andrea Larini (Romeo Ferraris Mercedes) and Monza race winner Tonio Liuzzi (CAAL Racing Mercedes).

Solaris Chevrolet driver Francesco Sini and championship leader Massimo Pigoli (Ferlito Jaguar) were eighth and ninth respectively, with rookie of the year contender Andrea Boffo (Roma Racing Team Mercedes) rounding out the top 10.
