Tincknell sets the pace on second and final day of British F3 testing at Rockingham
Harry Tincknell emerged on top of the second and final day of this week's British Formula 3 International Series test at Rockingham
The Devonian, entering his second season in the series, became the fourth Carlin Dallara-Volkswagen driver to top one of the four days of official pre-season tests run so far.
Tincknell, who was sidelined for three months in the winter due to a hand injury sustained in a testing shunt at Spa, set his best time in the morning session.
As his Carlin team-mates attacked that effort in the afternoon, he held firm to almost match his earlier time and top the final period of running.
Tuesday pacesetter Jack Harvey got closest, narrowly heading Carlos Sainz Jr and Jazeman Jaafar.
Meanwhile, Pietro Fantin, the class act of British F3 at Rockingham in 2011, was half a second adrift and cited set-up problems.
Best of the rest was once again Fortec Motorsport's F3 rookie Alex Lynn, the quickest driver from the Daventry squad to the tune of three tenths.
The surprise package of the test was Australian Nick McBride, who ended up just a tenth away from Lynn in his Nissan-powered T-Sport Dallara. Again the Japanese powerplant showed great straight-line speed, allowing the Formula Ford graduate to end his maiden A-class F3 test in style.
McBride's team-mate and fellow Aussie Spike Goddard again topped the National Class.
