Craig Lowndes takes first V8 Supercars pole of 2012 in Adelaide

The Triple Eight Holden driver edged out Holden Racing Team's Garth Tander by 0.02 seconds in the top 10 shoot-out at the former Australian Grand Prix venue.

Will Davison (Ford Performance Racing) was top Ford driver in third, sharing row two with Jonathon Webb - who achieved a career-best starting position in his Tekno Holden.

Reigning champion Jamie Whincup completed the top five in Triple Eight's other car.

After going quickest in the first qualifying session, FPR's Mark Winterbottom could only manage seventh in the pole decider, behind Tim Slade.
