Bertrand Baguette joins OAK Racing for World Endurance Championship campaign

Bertrand Baguette will move into sportscar racing full-time this year after joining the OAK Racing squad for its World Endurance Championship campaign

The 26-year-old Belgian will drive the team's lone LMP1 OAK Pescarolo-Judd along with experienced sportscar driver Guillaume Moreau - who stays with OAK for a fourth season - and Dominik Kraihamer.

Baguette has raced sporadically in IndyCar for the past two years and led the 2011 Indianapolis 500 near the finish, but also made two appearances in the GT1 World Championship last season in a Marc VDS-run Ford.

He believes his single-seater experience - which includes the 2009 Formula Renault 3.5 crown - will allow him to make a seamless transition to sportscars.

"I am delighted to be joining OAK Racing's LMP1 squad for this year's World Endurance Championship. Being as the cars share many similarities with single-seaters I'm sure I will be able to put my experience to good use.

"Moreover, I am thrilled to be contesting prestigious events like Sebring, the Le Mans 24 Hours and of course Spa, where I will be racing in front of my home fans."

OAK's LMP2 Morgan-Judd will be driven by former Olivier Pla, a former Le Mans Series champion in the category, Matthieu Lahaye and team owner Jacques Nicolet.
