Euronova Racing returns to Auto GP for 2012 season
Euronova Racing has announced its return to Auto GP this season
The team, founded by former International F3000 champion Vincenzo Sospiri, competed in Auto GP's maiden season in 2010, winning the inaugural race at Brno with Luca Filippi at the wheel.
In addition to Filippi, Euronova has previously nurtured Formula 1 drivers Vitaly Petrov and Jerome D'Ambrosio.
"I'm very pleased to return to the Auto GP World Series," said Sospiri. "It's a championship that has already produced drivers who have progressed to Formula 1. The format of the race weekend, including pitstops, provides an excellent training for drivers whose next move could very well be Formula 1.
"I'm very excited about the championship this year and am close to finalising my driver line-up, which I am sure will be competitive."
Euronova Racing is the fourth 'new' team to enter the 2012 Auto GP championship, a situation that has delighted series organiser Enzo Coloni.
"I'm really happy to have Euronova back in Auto GP," said Coloni. "They were a winning team in the series in 2010, and I wasn't surprised by that because I know Vincenzo Sospiri and his skills from a very long time. Having them in the championship is good news, something that will further improve the quality of our grid.
"Besides that, I'm happy to see that the teams are really excited by our project. After MLR71, Zele Racing and Virtuosi UK, Euronova is the fourth new-entry for 2012, it clearly means that our hard work is appreciated."
Last year, Euronova Racing claimed the Formula Abarth title.
