Callum MacLeod to complete GP3 season with Carlin

Callum MacLeod will make his GP3 debut for Carlin at the Nurburgring this weekend, and will complete the season with the team

The former McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC nominee tested for the British squad at Jerez last November and has been Carlin's driver coach during 2011. He replaces Daniel Morad and will partner regular drivers Leonardo Cordeiro and Conor Daly.

"I've been a driver coach for Carlin so I know how well they work together and what a great team they are, so I'm really pleased to have the opportunity to race with them," said the 23-year-old Briton.

"I've never competed at the Nurburgring or the Hungaroring so the next two rounds will definitely be a steep learning curve for me although I do aim to be running near the front. Looking further ahead in the season I've raced at Spa and Monza before so they should be slightly easier for me, but we'll have to see how the first two go.

"I have driven the Carlin GP3 car in pre-season testing and really enjoyed driving it however that was back in November at Jerez, even so I'm fairly confident I can get to grips with it quickly."

MacLeod won the British Formula Ford title in 2007 before stepping up to F3. He has raced in the European F3 Open for the past two seasons and was the championship runner-up last year with three wins.
