Frentzen wins in Italy
Heinz-Harald Frentzen won the Italian Grand Prix after McLaren's Mika Hakkinen retired
The Jordan driver, who made a storming start to the race, inherited top spot when Hakkinen spun and then stalled his engine at the chicane on lap 30.
After the race, he said, 'Theoretically I can win the world championship. I am 10 points behind Mika and eddie with three races left. Its incredible isn't it.'
Ralf Schumacher completed a German one-two, after being waved past by team-mate Alex Zanardi.
'I have to say thank you to my team-mate for letting me past without needing team orders,' said the German.
'That gave me a big leg up and I wouldn't have been third otherwise.'
Ferrari's Mika Salo was third, while Stewart's Rubens Barrichello held off David Coulthard's McLaren to finish in fourth.
Eddie Irvine's solitary point from sixth place brought him level with Mika Hakkinen at the top of the drivers' championship.
Salo said afterwards, 'It was very emotional to be on the podium with all the Ferrari fans.
'I couldn't have helped Eddie with the championship because he was two cars behind me.'
