Rosberg says penalty was deserved
Nico Rosberg says the penalty he will have to serve at the French Grand Prix is deserved after his crash in the previous race in Canada
The Williams driver and McLaren rival Lewis Hamilton will both lose ten places on the grid in Magny-Cours after the Briton crashed into the back of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari at the exit of the pitlane in Montreal.
Rosberg crashed into Hamilton just seconds later.
While Hamilton thought the penalty was harsh, Rosberg said on Friday that it was probably deserved.
"It was just unfortunate really that I didn't expect the red light and that's it," Rosberg told a news conference after Friday's practice. "It's a new situation and we've seen many people go through it because it's a new rule.
"In the pitstops there's a lot of things you have to do and I just didn't think of that. If you don't expect something it takes a while to react to new situations.
"If you just look at my case, I didn't do anything to anybody else because Lewis was out of the race already anyway. But you have to look at the whole picture and me and Lewis did the same thing more or less.
"He deserved to get 10 places and I think I did too, unfortunately."
