Kerr philosophical over missed win

Robbie Kerr said he didn't blame his team for a slow second pit stop which cost him a chance of his first double victory in A1GP at Brands Hatch

The Briton, who dominated the earlier Sprint Race, passed Team India's Narain Karthikeyan for the lead in the first pitstop window of the Feature Race, only to lose it when he brought his Team GBR car in for the second stop.

"It's just one of those things," he told autosport.com afterwards. "We all work hard together as a team and it's just a shame it didn't happen. We win as a team and lose as a team and we all give each other support and we are all pushing all the time.

"To lose it by half a second in the pitlane is gutting, but to go out there and put in the performance we did is fantastic.

"It has been a fantastic weekend and I don't think any team has got such a good home record, and it has been awesome to be here in front of the home crowd."

"Unfortunately the second pitstop didn't go to plan. We came out alongside Narain, but the pit rules state you can't run side-by-side in the pits. I had to fall in behind that's when the race was lost."

Thanks to Kerr's win and second place, Team GBR moved ahead of France to third in the final standings. Kerr admitted that this had played on his mind when contemplating how hard to chase Karthikeyan in the final laps.

"We had to think of the whole championship here," he said. "There was no point in anything silly happening between myself and Narain.

"Of course we wanted the win and we weren't quite quick enough. Myself and Narain were so close throughout the race, it's just one of those things."
