Kerr wins as Swiss take title

Robbie Kerr scored his third career A1GP victory in the final sprint race of the season at Brands Hatch, as Neel Jani and Team Switzerland were crowned series champions

On home ground, the Team GBR driver took a popular and accomplished win, repeating his sprint race victory here 12 months ago, ahead of Jonathan Summerton for Team USA and Team Ireland's Adam Carroll.

Carroll passed Jani around the outside of Paddock Hill bend at the start of the race for third, and from then on chased Summerton hard for much of the race, but the American used all four of his power boosts in the last three laps to secure his position.

Jani finished a sensible and safe fourth, enough to ensure title success, ahead of Narain Karthikeyan for Team India and Filipe Albuquerque's Portuguese car.

It was a typical Brands A1GP encounter in that there was little in the way of overtaking, but Congfu Cheng caused a stir by appearing to deliberately slow to allow himself enough clear space to take fastest lap of the race.

Vanquished title challengers New Zealand did well to finish eighth as Jonny Reid fought up from tenth on the grid by passing Franck Montagny and Michael Ammermuller on the run up to Druids on lap one.

But thereafter the Kiwi couldn't find his way past Adrian Zaugg's South African car, which finished seventh.

Jeroen Bleekemolen managed a similar feat to Reid by getting past France and Germany while Montagny took tenth.
