Reid not giving up title fight yet
Team New Zealand driver Jonny Reid says he hasn't given up on the Kiwis winning the A1GP championship at Brands Hatch on Sunday
Championship leaders Switzerland are currently 29 points ahead of New Zealand, and only need to score eighth in the Sprint Race to clinch the title.
To compound the challenge facing Reid, Swiss driver Neel Jani qualified third in both races while the 'black beauty' will start tenth and 17th in the Sprint and Feature races respectively.
"I don't forget about winning the championship until it's over," said Reid. "That's just the way I am. Yes, we need some lady luck tomorrow though. Switzerland have fought hard all year and qualified much better than us today.
"But no points have been scored yet and we're hoping for the best and will stay as positive as possible. What will be, will be."
While the Kiwi was held up by traffic on his final run in the Feature Race qualifying sessions, Reid has no prior knowledge of Brands Hatch and has not yet reached a set-up he is satisfied with.
Jani meanwhile, faced challenges of his own. The Swiss was forced to contend with a sticking throttle throughout qualifying and the team decided to strip the car down after the sessions to solve the problem.
"My aim is to stay of trouble and score a podium in the first race," he said. "If we can do that, I will go all out for the win in the Feature Race."
