Kerr: I could have had both poles
Team GBR driver Robbie Kerr believes he had the pace to qualify on pole for both A1GP races at Brands Hatch on Sunday and blamed traffic for not completing a clean sweep in qualifying
Though Kerr took pole for the Sprint Race, he was outqualified by Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan for the Feature Race. And while the Englishman did secure a second front row start of the weekend, he reckoned there was more on offer and that he had left the pits at the wrong time in the busy final session.
"We have been pushing really hard this weekend," said Kerr. "In qualifying we are not 100% happy with out lap time because we just believe we could have gone a bit quicker. I just didn't get the perfect lap together. It's one of those things.
"Circumstances happen when you are starting your lap. It's just a shame that we are not one place higher in the feature."
Kerr added that there were no excuses however, and that Brands Hatch by its nature, lends itself to a last minute dash in qualifying.
"It is one of those places where everyone waits until the last moment to qualify," he admitted. "We got caught out by that definitely. We were a bit slower out than we wanted to be and we paid the penalty for that.
"It's a hard call to get it 100% right every time, and this time unfortunately we didn't get it quite right. But we're happy with our performance so far this weekend and we've just got to carry it on till tomorrow."
