Moto2: Barbera grabs provisional pole
Hector Barbera grabbed the top spot with the final lap of the first 250cc qualifying session in Qatar tonight
The Spaniard was toppled from the head of the time sheets by Mattia Pasini with five minutes to go, but gathered himself for a final charge and reclaimed the position by a tenth of a second.
Alvaro Bautista was another to improve at the end of the session, taking third place away from Marco Simoncelli. He was was just a fraction shy of beating Pasini as well.
Swiss Thomas Luthi held the top spot for much of the session but had to make do with fifth place in the end. Mika Kallio was the top KTM rider in sixth place, but he was nearly half a second slower than Luthi.
Expected front runner Hiroshi Aoyama had a disappointing session and, despite running third initially, ended up only ninth fastest on his KTM.
