Hartley to race for Carlin in 2008
Reigning Formula Renault Eurocup champion Brendon Hartley will race for Carlin Motorsport in British Formula Three next year
The Red Bull-backed driver, who made his F3 debut at the Masters race at Zolder earlier this year, will make his first start for the team in this year's Macau F3 Grand Prix.
"I'm really excited that I'll be racing in British F3 next year and very pleased that I'll be joining Carlin," said the 17-year-old.
"As the best team in the championship, I know they will give me the best possible chance of challenging for race wins and the title."
The decision by Red Bull to put a driver in British F3 marks a change of policy, as in 2007 all four of their F3 drivers raced in the Euro Series, where teams are not allowed to test as much as in the British series.
However, the company has close ties already with Carlin, who have run Red Bull drivers in Formula BMW and World Series by Renault.
Team boss Trevor Carlin added: "Red Bull clearly believe that British F3 is the best place for Brendon to further his career and I'm sure he will be a great asset to the team.
"Despite his achievements to date, he is still a very young driver and the British F3 championship will allow him to develop as a driver through a busy test and race programme.
"We are proud that Red Bull have chosen Carlin as the team to return to British F3 with and we are confident that we will provide Brendon with the best possible car to challenge for the championship."
Hartley finished fourth at the F3 Masters event earlier this year, where he stood in for Sebastien Buemi, who had a clashing commitment in GP2.
