Zytek takes Laguna Seca pole
Stefan Johansson has taken pole for this weekend's final round of the the American Le Mans season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California
Johansson and Johnny Mowlem will start from pole after edging out the Creation car of Nicolas Minassian/Harold Primat by a tenth of a second.
"The Zytek is a phenomenal race car," a happy Johansson said. "It has been great since they first brought it out. It's a shame they haven't done a full season anywhere.
"To me it's a mystery that no one has bought it. It's the best customer car out there as far as I'm concerned. It does everything you want to do."
The Porsche RS Spyder of Sascha Maassen/Timo Bernhard was next, closely followed by the two Audi R10s of Allan McNish/Rinaldo Capello and Frank Biela/Emanuele Pirro, with the second Porsche RS Spyder of Lucas Luhr/Romain Dumas sandwiching the Audis between the Porsches.
GT1 class is led by the Aston Martin DB9 of Stephane Sarrazin/Pedro Lamy, closely followed by the two Corvette C6.Rs of Ron Fellows/Johnny O'Connell and Olivier Beretta/Oliver Gavin, with the second Aston Martin of Darren Turner/Tomas Enge just behind them.
Meanwhile the Ferrari 430 GT Berlinetta of Stephane Ortelli/Mika Salo took the GT2 pole, a pair of Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs driven by Mike Rockenfeller/Marcel Tiemann and Patrick Long/Jorg Bergmeister completing the top three.
Bergmeister is four points behind Johannes van Overbeek but will start seven places ahead of him after cluctch problems for Van Overbeek's car in qualifying.
