Conway wins race 1 and title
Mike Conway has been crowned the 2006 British Formula Three Champion after a dominant victory on the Silverstone International circuit this afternoon (Sunday)
Conway secured the lead after starting from pole, and drove away from Oliver Jarvis (Carlin Motorsport). Jarvis, who was his nearest championship challenger, endured a lonely race to second.
He was due to start this afternoon's second race in third place, but a pit lane speeding infringement means he has been penalized and will start fifth.
Jarvis' teammate Christian Bakkerud had a superb start and made good use of it to hang on to third place despite race-long pressure from Conway's Double R teammate Bruno Senna.
Dutch driver Yelmer Buurman finished right in Senna's wheeltracks after an eventful race that saw him run fifth on lap one, drop two places and then make them up again.
Venezuelan Rodolfo Gonzalez brought the National Class title back to T-Sport after finishing third in class. A spin on the first lap left him at the back but he charged back to secure enough points to put matters beyond doubt.
