Mansell disappointed by early exit

Nigel Mansell was disappointed to have suffered driveshaft problems that meant he completed only a handful of laps in yesterday's Grand Prix Masters of Great Britain.

Running had been limited in the practice days because of engine problems, and Mansell had only managed one lap in qualifying.

The 1992 world champion's race was then short-lived, completing just two laps after a broken driveshaft.

"There should be a special prize for how many spins you can have in one lap," Mansell said.

"I spun three times going to the grid! Unfortunately the differential had exploded and I lost drive at the rear.

"That's just the reality of motor racing - it's not an easy sport to do. Occasionally these failures happen, and it happened to me.

"I went out again in the middle of the race for one more lap, which I hope the fans enjoyed - I certainly didn't! I spun three times again, but I made it back to the pits and I think that deserves a round of applause!"
