Williams aim to re-establish as top team
Former Formula One champions Williams are aiming to re-establish themselves as a top team after a difficult 2005 season
"The most important thing is that we re-establish ourselves as a top team," said technical director Sam Michael during the launch of the new FW28 car.
Williams, World Champions several times in the past, finished in a disappointing fifth position last year and will enter a new era this season, using Cosworth engines after a six-year partnership with BMW.
The team, who last won a race at the end of the 2004 season, have also switched from Michelin to Bridgestone tyres and have a new driver in Nico Rosberg, who will partner Australian Mark Webber.
Michael says it's too early to start thinking of winning again, but the team are aiming to steadily make their way back to the top.
"If you look at the last two years we have finished fourth and then fifth in the championship," Michael added. "Before that we were second so we want to reverse that slide and get ourselves back in among the top runners.
"To win races or win a championship is far too early to say, because we haven't even driven this car. There is a lot of changes, especially for us because we have changed tyre manufacturer and engine supplier.
"We have got a new driver but either way our target is definitely to re-establish Williams as a top team."
"I guess we are as ambitious a team as anybody else but we are also a cautious team and while we secretly like to win all the races, our realistic thinking is that if we get top three then we will have done a good job in this coming season in the Constructors' Championship."
