Albers set to confirm Midland drive
Christijan Albers will confirm his switch to the Midland team tomorrow, with sources claiming that he has signed a two-year deal with the outfit
The Dutchman, who raced for Minardi this season, has been in talks with Midland for several weeks and has called a press conference in Holland for Tuesday morning to announce his plans for '2006 and beyond'.
His hopes of staying at Minardi for next year were scuppered when the team were taken over by Red Bull. The energy drinks company have confirmed that there will be no place at the new Squadra Toro Rosso team for Albers, either as a race or test driver.
Although Albers was linked with a third driver role at Williams, his only real chance of remaining as a race driver was with Midland.
The team, who bought Jordan at the start of this year prior to their official entry as Midland next season, have yet to confirm who Albers' teammate will be.
They did announce last week, however, that Nicky Pastorelli would be their third driver next season.
