Rosberg Assured of Williams Seat
Nico Rosberg has been assured he will have a seat at the Williams team next season, and believes he has proved enough to secure a racing drive and not only a position as tester
He also confirmed a battle between him and two other drivers for the race seat for 2006 will be decided within two weeks.
Rosberg, who won the GP2 series this year, has already tested for Williams and was in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix having finished his season in Bahrain last month.
And he said: "I hope I am racing. I have proven I am worth it this year and I should be given a chance. It's still between Antonio [Pizzonia], me and another driver.
"At the beginning of the week Frank [Williams] said I will be one of the three drivers so at least I will be test driver next year and hopefully race driver. It will be decided in the next week or two."
Rosberg pointed to the symmetry between himself and his father Keke, who won the world title in a Williams-Cosworth in 1982, the same combination that Williams will have next year.
He is confident that he is ready for Formula One and he believes this year, which has seen him race for ART in GP2 and test for Williams on several occasions, is the perfect grounding for Formula One.
"It would be very nice to race for Williams, it would be Williams-Cosworth-Rosberg and that was a World Championship-winning combination 24 years ago so it would be very nice," said Rosberg.
"It's been great this year because I have been given the opportunity to test for Williams. Together with GP2 it has been the perfect combination and I don't think it will be too difficult (to step up).
"After a lot of testing you learn a lot engineering wise, understanding the car. I don't think it should be too much of a problem."
