Alfa duo head tests
Gabriele Tarquini and newcomer Alfa team-mate Augusto Farfus shared the honours after two days of European Touring Car Championship testing at Valencia in Spain. The Autodelta pair both clocked best laps of 1m42.2s in their 156 Gtas
The SEAT and BMW Great Britain teams were also at the test. Frank Diefenbacher (SEAT Toledo Cupra) and Andy Priaulx (BMW 320i) were both three tenths slower than the Alfas. Jordi Gene in the second SEAT was a further tenth back.
"We were very pleased with these tests," said Diefenbacher. "Our car was very good with the new aerodynamics package and some small improvements in the suspension. We are looking forward to getting the new engine step. So far the new season looks very promising for us. Our car is improving, and hopefully we will improve more than Alfa Romeo and BMW."
Autodelta's third driver Fabrizio Giovanardi was also present, but didn't do any laps on new tyres. The satellite Oregon Team took also part in the test, with Luca Rangoni, Salvatore Tavano and Michele Bartyan taking stints at the wheel of the team's only Alfa Romeo 156 Gta.
