Piquet and Rosberg in new teams for East

Nelson Angelo Piquet and Nico Rosberg are to switch to leading British Formula 3 teams for the end-of-season Macau Grand Prix and Korean Super Prix classics next month. This is according to a story in this week's AUTOSPORT Magazine.

Piquet, third in the British rankings this year, is crossing over to Hitech Racing. Euroseries race winner Rosberg will run with UK champion team Carlin Motorsport.

Rosberg's regular Team Rosberg squad usually stays away from the end-of-season events, whilst Piquet Jr wants to keep his own Piquet Sports car in Britain so he can maximise test mileage before the F3 test ban starts on January 1.

Meanwhile British champion Alan van der Merwe is set to skip the Far Eastern races. The South African is believed to be working on a Formula 1 Friday testing deal for 2004.

"I'd like to do Macau and Korea," said van der Merwe, "but it would be silly to go out there and maybe miss other opportunities."
