Risi Competizione Ferrari squad to enter 2020 Daytona 24 Hours

The Risi Competizione Ferrari squad will contest the 2020 Daytona 24 Hours IMSA SportsCar Championship season opener next month

The Houston-based team will again mount an assault on the US endurance race after winning the GT Le Mans class at the final round of this year's IMSA season at Road Atlanta in October.

James Calado, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Daniel Serra, the winning crew from the Petit Le Mans 10-hour race, will be joined by Davide Rigon in the Risi Ferrari 488 GTE for Daytona on January 25-26.

The Petit fixture at Road Atlanta was only Risi's second IMSA appearance of 2019, although it also raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The ultra-successful team has scaled back its IMSA outings since mounting full campaigns in 2014-2016 and raced only at Daytona in '18.

Team owner Giuseppe Risi said: "This is always one of the most important races on the calendar, so we will be there and ready to go against what is always a challenging field of competitors.

"We always race to win, and after our victory at Petit Le Mans to close out this year, we want to win all the more in 2020."

Risi's 2020 Daytona entry will be its 17th since 1998, during which time it has recorded three class victories and two second-place finishes overall.

WRT to make second Daytona start The Belgian WRT Audi squad will make its second Daytona start in January.

It will field an Audi R8 LMS in the GT Daytona class for a line-up including factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Dries Vanthoor.

They will be joined in the car entered under the WRT Speedstar Audi Sport banner by Rolf Ineichen and Daniel Morad.

Bortolotti, who has switched from Lamborghini to Audi for 2020, and Ineichen are bidding for a third consecutive GTD victory at Daytona after winning at the wheel of a Grasser Lambo Huracan GT3 in 2018-19.

Morad was part of the class-winning line-up in an Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R in 2017.

The team has yet to announce any further IMSA appearances after Daytona.
