Autosport Podcast: A Formula 1 nearly man's unusual career
||Thursday, August 1st 2019, 08:08 GMT
Ahead of the 2000 season, Brazilian driver Max Wilson had a drive with the Minardi team and was looking forward to his first Formula 1 campaign.
But as often happens, he lost the seat to a driver with a big budget, which instead set the sometime Williams test driver on the path to an eclectic career.
Wilson, a race winner in German Formula 3 who starred in a one-off appearance in the ITC for Alfa Romeo at Interlagos in 1996, then went on to race in CART and Australian Supercars.
In more recent years, he has become one of the stars of Brazil's ultra-competitive V8 Stock Car Championship, a hidden gem of a championship, which he won in 2010.
Wilson, who still races to this day and has also proved himself to be an outstanding motorsport commentator, tells the story of his unusual career in this podcast that also features Autosport's long-time Brazilian correspondent Lito Cavalcanti.
