Racing Point announces new drivers for third F1 Esports season

Racing Point is the latest team to announce drivers for the third Formula 1 Esports season, partnering F1 Esports debutant Daniele Haddad with the returning Marcel Kiefer

German driver Kiefer retains his seat after finishing fifth with the team in the drivers' championship last year.

He earned three podiums from the 10 races and helped the team to fifth in the teams' championship.

Kiefer, along with his new team-mate, has relocated to Silverstone to prepare for the third F1 Esports season.

"It's great to finally confirm I am back racing with the Racing Point F1 Esports team," Kiefer said.

"They have given me all the tools to improve as a driver compared to last year. The full-time training schedule is intense, but I see improvements daily.

"Having Daniele as a team-mate and housemate is a great experience - we are bringing a little bit of Germany and Italy to a very famous British location!"

Haddad replaces 2017 runner-up Fabrizio Donoso Delgado and Mads Sorensen in the team.

Haddad has temporarily left his family-run Rome-based watch repair business in order to compete in the series.

"Racing Point F1 Esports Team has shown significant commitment by choosing me over more established and experienced drivers from last year's series," Haddad said.

"They have been doing their homework and scouting talent since the end of last year and I'm proud to have been chosen.

"To reflect their commitment, I am more than happy to put my life on hold and move to Silverstone to focus solely on getting the best results for the team."

Delgado will participate in next week's Pro Draft in a bid to be signed by another team, while Sorensen has confirmed he will not be competing this year.

Racing Point has become the fourth team to announce a duo of drivers following Renault, Red Bull and Toro Rosso.

Each team will add at least one driver from the Pro Draft, which is taking place on July 17 in London.

The championship's prize pool has increased from $200,000 to $500,000 and all 10 F1 teams will participate for the very first time.
