DragonSpeed withdraws from Spa LMP1, Sebring damaged not yet fixed
DragonSpeed has withdrawn its LMP1 entry from the second Spa event of the 2018/19 World Endurance Championship, which is taking place this weekend
The team shared the news on social media on Tuesday, explaining that it had been unable to repair its customer Gibson-powered BR Engineering BR1 that had been damaged in last month's Sebring race.
DragonSpeed's #10 car had been due to be driven by Ben Hanley, Henrik Hedman and James Allen at Spa.
Allen was to stand in for Renger van der Zande, who is on IMSA SportsCar Championship duty with the Wayne Taylor Racing tean at Mid-Ohio this weekend.
We are disappointed to announce that our @FIAWEC LMP1 #10 @DallaraGroup @gibsontech1 entry will not race this weekend @ Spa. We have not been able to acquire the electronics that needed fixing after our DNF at Sebring. A little time, a test and focus on @24hoursoflemans pic.twitter.com/EORkOfbNO1

The car DragonSpeed also failed to take part in last year's Spa race, which marked the start of the 2018/19 WEC campaign, after Pietro Fittipaldi's huge Eau Rouge crash in qualifying that left him with severe leg injuries.
Since then, the #10 machine has only finished two races - 11th overall at Silverstone last year and then recording its best finish with sixth at Shanghai.
DragonSpeed's withdrawal reduces the size of the total race entry for the Spa event to 34 cars, with only seven machines entered in the LMP1 class.
The team will still have its LMP2 entry present in Belgium.
