Enzo Fittipaldi lands Prema seat for new European Regional F3 series

Reigning Italian F4 champion and Ferrari Academy driver Enzo Fittipaldi will contest the new Formula Regional European Championship with Prema Powerteam

Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time Formula 1 champion Emerson, took seven wins and five additional podiums on his way to the Italian F4 title in his second full-season of car racing.

He joins Brit Ollie Caldwell, who has also graduated from Italian F4, in the team's line-up for the new Regional F3 series, which will be run by the promoters of Italian F4, Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI), and features a Tatuus chassis with an Alfa Romeo engine.

"I am really happy to be racing with Prema Powerteam in 2019," said Fittipaldi, who has retained his Ferrari Driver Academy backing.

"We will line-up in the Formula Regional European Championship, a new series with a new car and obviously a new challenge for the team and drivers.

"Testing will be extremely important to learn the tyres and understand how the car works.

"It is an honour for me to be part of the Ferrari Driver Academy again. They give me all the support I need inside and outside the track and I'm really happy to continue with them and Prema."

Team principal Angelo Rosin added: "Enzo really did a fantastic job last season and we really look forward to seeing him race in the Formula Regional European Championship.

"He is a proven winner and a really valuable resource for all the team while preparing for a campaign in the new series.

"We are also proud of the continued support by the Ferrari Driver Academy, which rewarded our efforts and continued to trust us for the step to a new series."
