Earnhardt and StarCom NASCAR Cup team split after five rounds
The StarCom Racing team has parted ways with Jeffery Earnhardt just five races into its debut season in the NASCAR Cup series
The new pairing has failed to score a single top 20 finish so far this season, with Earnhardt's best result proving to be 21st at the Daytona 500 season opener.
After finishing 36th at Fontana last weekend, the decision was made for the two parties to split.
The team announced that Landon Cassill would drive its #00 entry in the Martinsville and Texas rounds on Monday afternoon.
We want to thank @JEarnhardt1 for his time with SCR, we have mutually agreed to move in different directions at this time. It was a pleasure working together & we wish success to Jeffrey & his team. Stay tuned this week for more information on who will be at the wheel of the 00!

Earnhardt, the grandson of NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt Sr, is now looking into other opportunities.
An update on his official Facebook page said: "[We] wanted to let everyone know that tonight was Jeffrey's last race with the #00 team.
"They are wonderful people and we're very appreciative to have had the opportunity to work with them and begin the 2018 season.
"Jeffrey will be exploring other options and working on some new sponsorship programmes.
"There's some very exciting news on the horizon and we're confident you'll be pleased with the outcome. Strategic pause time."
