Adam Morgan sticks with Ciceley for BTCC amid 'big changes'

The 29-year-old has won four races since first entering his Mercedes A-Class in 2014, earning a best championship result of seventh the following year.

He won twice in 2016, but failed to take to the top step in 2017 despite four podium visits.

Morgan's A-Class switched to a new red livery last season in deference to new title sponsor MAC Tools, which remains with the team for 2018.

Ciceley's confirmation of Morgan hinted at an expansion to more cars with a nod to "two major announcements" in the coming weeks.

"We have been busy little bees during the winter," said team commericial director Norman Burgess.

"We are really looking forward to this year, as there have been some big changes made in the team and we can't wait to share the news.

"Our news will be a shock to some, but a lot of time and effort has been poured into making 2018 our best season ever."

Morgan said he had offers to switch teams but decided to stick with the family-run Ciceley, which he won the Ginetta GT Supercup with in 2011 and entered the BTCC for Morgan's second season in '13.

"I need to get right up the championship points table this year," said Morgan.

"Last year was going so well up until Oulton Park and Croft, when a fire at the former and an engine problem at the latter really put us on the back foot.

"We were third in the standings heading to Oulton but then had six races without a point, and that really did for us.

"The competiveness to me is the addiction as a driver and the BTCC is the best championship out there for both drivers and their teams.

"It was nice to be thought of by other teams but my sponsors are loyal to me and the BTCC Independents' and drivers' championships are my sole aim, and so I have elected to stay with the guys at Ciceley."
