IMSA champion Taylor gets Triple Eight Holden Supercars test

IMSA SportsCar champion Jordan Taylor tested the Triple Eight Holden team's brand new ZB Commodore Supercar at Queensland Raceway on Monday as part of an evaluation day

Taylor completed several laps in the car, while Triple Eight mechanic and Super2 regular Kurt Kostecki also spent a significant amount of time in the car.

While both regular Red Bull Holden drivers Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen were on hand, neither could drive the car as per the evaluation day regulations.

Taylor was a special guest at the Newcastle 500 last November, as part of a push to increase his involvement in Supercars and potentially look for a drive in the series' three endurance races.

There is no chance of a spot in the Red Bull HRT set-up for the long-distance races this year, with Earl Bamber already confirmed alongside van Gisbergen and Paul Dumbrell alongside Whincup.

Taylor's older brother and fellow 2017 IMSA champion Ricky participated in the '12 Surfers Paradise Supercars round in the era when co-drivers from international racing were encouraged.

New deal for Mostert

Chaz Mostert will be a Tickford Racing driver until at least the end of the 2019 Supercars season, having signed a fresh two-year deal with the recently-renamed Ford team.

Mostert was officially off contract when last season ended. His initial 2015 deal with the team was framed as a 'two-plus-two' contract, with it understood both driver and team had to agree for the second two-year deal to come into effect.

That appears to have now been done, with Tickford announcing on Sunday that Mostert is now locked in until the end of 2019.

The next two seasons will be his fifth and sixth in an FPR/PRA/Tickford Ford, having been loaned out to Dick Johnson Racing in 2013 following his debut year in the development series with FPR.

"They've shown their loyalty to me in the early years and we'll use the next few seasons to build on and achieve bigger and better things like going for Bathurst wins and championships," said Mostert.

Three of Tickford's four drivers are now secured through to the end of 2019, with '15 champion Mark Winterbottom - whose deal expires at the end of this season - the only exception.

Cam Waters is at the beginning of a new two-year deal, while Richie Stanaway's new contract with the team has been described as "multi-year".

Tickford chief Tim Edwards added: "Chaz's colleagues enjoy working with him, as do our commercial partners, and he is adored by members and fans alike so we know this news will be welcomed by all.

"Chaz has enjoyed a strong level of success since entering the category but I think the thing that has made him a true star of our sport is the way he has rebuilt himself since his accident [at Bathurst in 2015]."
