Marc Marquez recovered from an early-session crash to set the pace in the Saturday morning MotoGP practice for the Czech Grand Prix at Brno.
Just four and a half minutes into the session, Alvaro Bautista crashed at Turn 10 after his Aspar Ducati seemingly leaked oil on the track.
The Hondas of Marquez and Cal Crutchlow both fell at the same spot a few moments later and the red flag came out to repair the damaged air fence the bikes hit.
After the restart, Dani Pedrosa quickly moved to the top with a 1m55.541s, before he also fell at Turn 8.
While he didn't improve for the rest of the session, he stayed at the front until the very last minute, when Marquez went 0.171s quicker with a 1m55.370s.
Pedrosa ended up second as the two factory Yamahas followed with Valentino Rossi ahead of Maverick Vinales.
Andrea Dovizioso was the fastest of the three 2017-spec Ducatis, all of which used different fairing designs.
While Dovizioso again opted not to use the new fairing, Jorge Lorenzo tested the same version he ran in FP2 and was ninth, two tenths behind his team-mate.
Meanwhile, Danilo Petrucci used a more extreme version of the new fairing on his Pramac-run machine, but was only 16th.
Crutchlow recovered from his early crash to take seventh, followed by Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro and Tech 3 Yamaha's Johann Zarco, who also had a crash at Turn 3.
Lorenzo and Avintia Ducati's Loris Baz were the last riders to seal automatic spots in Q2.
Baz was another rider to fall at Turn 8, while Scott Redding crashed at the fifth corner.
