WEC Silverstone: Jose Maria Lopez taken to hospital after crash

Lopez/WEC/Silverstone 2017

New Toyota driver Jose Maria Lopez has been taken to hospital after an accident in today's World Endurance Championship opener at Silverstone.

The Argentinian has been transferred to hospital in Northampton for precautionary tests after an impact with the barriers triggered the so-called 'medical light' in the car.

Lopez crashed the #7 Toyota TS050 HYBRID at Copse Corner after putting a wheel on a wet kerb under braking.

He was able to drive the car back to the pits after it had been hoisted out of the gravel and the car is currently undergoing repairs.

The Toyota Lopez shares with Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi was running fourth at the time of the accident having lost time to its rivals with a rear anti-roll bar problem.
