BTCC Brands Hatch: Ingram doubles up with best time in practice two
Tom Ingram continued his strong start to the opening British Touring Car Championship weekend at Brands Hatch, backing up his fastest time in first practice by topping the second session
The Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis man repeated his morning exploits in practice two, jumping to the top of the times near the end of the forty-minute session with a best time of 48.158s.
"I am putting the pressure on myself now..." joked Ingram after the session.
"It was a good session, there were no issues and we were just playing with balance again.
"We have no massive concerns, but we are still a couple of tenths away from the pole time we did here last year so we still think there is a chunk to come."
Ciceley Motorsport Mercedes-Benz A-Class racer Adam Morgan was second in the standings, just 0.086 seconds behind Ingram.
"We are happy, and the engineers have provided me with a magnificent car to drive," said Morgan.
"The whole team is relaxed and taking it in our stride and enjoying what we are doing.
"People haven't shown their hand yet or done a full qualifying simulation.
We haven't either, so that we can be top when we still have something to find gives us hope for this afternoon."
Jack Goff was third in the Eurotech Racing Honda Civic Type R after topping the standings for a long period of the session.
He ended the session ahead of factory Honda Civic driver Matt Neal, the Handy Motorsport Toyota Avensis of Rob Austin and Colin Turkington's WSR BMW 125i M Sport.
Jeff Smith was seventh in the second Eurotech Civic Type R, ahead of Aron Taylor-Smith (Triple Eight Racing MG6), Senna Proctor (Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra) and Turkington's WSR team-mate Andrew Jordan.
Reigning champion Gordon Shedden was 12th in his Team Dynamics Honda Civic Type R.
The leading factory Subaru was team newcomer Ash Sutton in 28th place in the Levorg GT.
Team-mate and double champion Jason Plato was 31st, 1.2s behind Ingram's time.
