AVF driver Egor Orudzhev set the fastest time across the combined two-day World Series Formula V8 3.5 pre-season test at Aragon.
The Russian, who will contest a third season in the series this year, set an overall best time of 1m40.389s in Thursday's morning session at the Spanish venue.
But Orudzhev's day was not without trouble, the SMP-backed driver completing only five laps in the afternoon as a spin brought his running to a premature end.
Japanese driver Yu Kanamaru was a tenth slower than Orudzhev in second ahead of Diego Menchaca, who was the fastest rookie and just 0.156 seconds off the pace.
Menchaca, who has graduated to the series from Euroformula Open, was second-fastest on Day 1, just a few hundredths off pacesetter Pietro Fittipaldi's benchmark time from Wednesday.
Kanamaru's RP Motorsport team-mate Roy Nissany was fourth overall, narrowly edging out Matevos Isaakyan in the second AVF entry.
Force India development driver Alfonso Celis Jr was sixth on Thursday, less than half a second behind Orudzhev, while Fittipaldi could not replicate his strong Wednesday form and took seventh.
He was just eight thousandths of a second quicker than Lotus team-mate Rene Binder.
The top 10 was completed by Damiano Fioravanti (Barone Rampante) and Konstantin Tereshchenko (Teo Martin).
