Daytona 24 Hours: Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac fastest in practice

Cadillac maintained its grip on the top of timesheets in free practice ahead of this weekend's Daytona 24 Hours

Jordan Taylor jumped to the top of the times right at the end of 60-minute session for the opening round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship aboard the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R.

He posted a 1m36.970s, which would have been good enough to put the car on the front row of the grid for the race.

Taylor's lap put him nearly a second up on Nicolas Lapierre, who set a 1m37.922s aboard the rebuilt DragonSpeed ORECA-Gibson 07.

The car had been built up overnight around a spare chassis after the tub was holed when Loic Duval crashed in Thursday afternoon's second practice session.

The pole-winning Action Express Racing Cadillac was third fastest on a 1m38.152s in the hands of Christian Fittipaldi.

The Rebellion ORECA ended up fourth in Neel Jani's hands, while Rene Rast was fifth in the Spirit of Daytona Riley-Gibson MK30.

GT Le Mans pole winner Joey Hand was quickest in class aboard the #66 Ford GT.

His 1m43.490s was just a tenth up on Dirk Werner's 1m43.543s in the best of the factory Porsche 911 RSRs.

The GT Daytona class was led by Andrea Caldarelli in the Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3, while Robert Wickens was quickest in the Prototype Challenge division in the BAR1 Motorsports ORECA-Chevrolet FLM09.

Motors TV will broadcast 16 hours of live coverage across Europe from this year's Daytona 24 Hours, running from 1900-0300 GMT on Saturday evening, and again from 1200-2000 GMT on Sunday
