WEC squad Rebellion Racing completes LMP2 driver line-up
The Anglo-Swiss Rebellion Racing squad has completed its driver line-up for its move to the LMP2 ranks in this year's World Endurance Championship
The mandatory silver-rated drivers in Rebellion's pair of ORECA-Gibson 07s will be David Heinemeier Hansson and Julien Canal, both former class champions in the WEC.
Heinemeier Hansson, GTE Am WEC title winner with Aston Martin Racing in 2014, will drive alongside Nelson Piquet Jr and Mathias Beche.
Canal won the 2012 GTE Am title with Larbre Competition and the 2015 WEC P2 crown with OAK Racing, and will share with Bruno Senna and Nicolas Prost.
Frenchman Canal moves back to the WEC after a season in the European Le Mans Series driving a Greaves Ligier, while Heinemeier Hansson returns to P2 in the WEC after racing in GTE Am last year.
Rebellion, which has stepped down from the LMP1 privateer ranks for 2017, has applied for the numbers #13 and #31 for its two WEC entries.
Team manager Bart Hayden said: "We are fortunate to benefit from a talented and experienced pool of drivers again this year.
"I'm convinced that they will all do a great job and work well together."
Rebellion's P2 programme in 2017 also includes the North American Endurance Cup component of the IMSA SportsCar Championship, beginning with the Daytona 24 Hours on January 28/29.
