Hunter-Reay and Rahal enter 2017 Daytona 24 Hours with Acura
IndyCar drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay and Graham Rahal will race with the factory Acura team in next month's Daytona 24 Hours
Former IndyCar champion Hunter-Reay and three-time race winner Rahal complete the line-up in the pair of Acura NSX GT3s to be run by Michael Shank Racing in the opening round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship on January 28/29.
They will join full-season drivers Katherine Legge, Oswaldo Negri Jr, Andy Lally and Jeff Segal, and endurance drivers Mark Wilkins and Tom Dyer, in the pair of GT Daytona class entries.
Art St Cyr, boss of the Honda Performance Development organisation leading development of the NSX, said: "The addition of Graham and Ryan to an already excellent driver line-up, coupled with the experience provided by Michael Shank and his team, will make the NSX GT3 a serious contender for the GTD class victory at Daytona."
Hunter-Reay and Rahal will join the full-season Shank drivers at next week's official IMSA test at Daytona.
The driver combinations across the two Shank Acuras have yet to be announced.
Rahal and Hunter-Reay have extensive Daytona experience.
Rahal is a former winner with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2011 and Hunter-Reay has contested the race 10 times with a best result of second in 2013 with Wayne Taylor Racing.
