Tony Kanaan to stay with Chip Ganassi Racing Indycar team in 2017

Former IndyCar champion and 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan will stay with Chip Ganassi Racing for a fourth season in 2017

Kanaan, who finished seventh in the standings this season, but has signed a deal to stay with Ganassi for its return to Honda power next year.

He will continue in the #10 car, with backing from NTT Data.

"I'm thrilled to be back with Chip and NTT Data - it's been one of the most rewarding partnerships of my career," said Kanaan.

"Our 2016 season was strong, but our results didn't always reflect our performance and we definitely have some unfinished business heading into 2017."

The 41-year-old Brazilian has taken one win in the past three years, at Fontana in 2014, but has become an integral part of the team - and was also part of the Ganassi crew that won the 2015 Daytona 24 Hours.

"We are very happy to re-sign Tony to drive the #10 for us," said Ganassi.

"Tony has played a strong role as one of the leaders of this team both on and off the track and we feel fortunate to have him back."

Kanaan, who has 17 IndyCar wins to his name, will be part of what is set to a four-car team alongside Scott Dixon, Charlie Kimball and Max Chilton.
