Kid Jensen relieved to have made the cut

The team, set up by the Canadian DJ three years ago, has had a nervous few months since the season finished at Spa in August after finishing third from bottom in the team's standings.

According to the rules, the bottom three teams in the championship lose their places in the following year's series. However, due to a lack of interest from potential incoming outfits, KJR has been granted an entry for 2001.

"It's great to finally have our place confirmed," said Jensen. "Now we just need to concentrate on getting things sorted out for next year. We're competing with everyone else for drivers and we need to choose quite carefully to make sure we don't have a repeat of this year."

The Heart FM host is unsure as to who will drive for his team next year. The pairing of Bas Leinders and Andrea Piccini will not be used.

"We don't know yet. It's all a bit like playing poker," he said. "We tested lots of people at Barcelona and Jerez - Jonathan Cochet, Justin Keen and Damien Faulkner. Ideally we'd like a very keen, quick younger driver, but he must be teamed with someone who has a bit more experience."

The Witmeur KTR team also holds onto its place for next year and the Durango Formula outfit steps up from the Italian F3000 domestic series. Neither the McLaren Junior team or Gabriele Rafanelli's WRT squad will be present when the teams take to the track at Interlagos for the first round on April 1, as both have withdrawn from the championship.
