Steijn Schothorst steps up to Formula 3 for Zandvoort Masters
Formula Renault Northern European Cup leader Steijn Schothorst will step up to Formula 3 for a one-off in the Zandvoort Masters on July 6
The 19-year-old Dutchman will compete with Performance Racing in a Dallara-Volkswagen.
This will be the F3 debut for Schothorst, although he also contested the most recent round of the Formula Acceleration 1 series.
Performance plans to give Schothorst his first taste of an F3 car at Pembrey next Tuesday before heading straight to Zandvoort.
Team boss Bobby Issazadhe said: "It's just as important to have a guy with track knowledge as someone with F3 experience, and we will take him to good old Wales for a test.
"Max Verstappen is doing the race and he's pretty hot at the moment, so we have to be realistic - anything on the podium or near the podium will be good for Steijn's first time in an F3 car.
"But it's a long race, so anything is possible."
Schothorst becomes the fifth Dutchman on the entry list, alongside F3 European Championship racers Verstappen, Dennis van de Laar and Jules Szymkowiak and German F3 Cup contender Indy Dontje.
Performance will join the British F3 Championship from next month's round at Spa with Indian Parth Ghorpade, and has another car available.
