BTCC champion Andrew Jordan to test Triple Eight GT BMW
British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan will test a Triple Eight BMW Z4 GT3 car at Donington this week and could join the squad for endurance races in the future
Jordan, who has previously tested the British GT Championship-winning Aston Martin V12 Vantage and a JRM-run Nissan GT-R NISMO, will link up with his BTCC rival team as he evaluates potential GT race outings with the squad over the winter.
Triple Eight, which runs the factory MG set-up in the BTCC and moved into sportscar racing for the first time with a pair of Z4s in British GT last season, made its international sportscar debut in the Blancpain Endurance Series race at Silverstone last month.
It plans to contest the BES finale at the Nurburgring in September and the Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina in December, and is also assessing undertaking a full international programme in 2015, most likely in the BSS.
Jordan, 25, will test the car on Thursday ahead of this weekend's BTCC round at Oulton Park.
"I speak to H [team boss Ian Harrison] quite often - I know him well from when I was at Vauxhall and we've been talking about GTs," Jordan told AUTOSPORT.
"They're looking at doing long-distance racing during the winter and H asked me if I'd like a go. I wasn't going to turn him down.
"I've driven the Aston and Nissan before; it's good to get some GT experience and see how the BMW feels.
"I'd love to do some endurance races and we've been talking about a few things, but nothing's confirmed yet. We'll see how it goes."
