Richie Stanaway secures full-time GP3 drive with Status
Ex-Lotus Formula 1 junior Richie Stanaway will return to full-time single-seater racing this year with Status Grand Prix in GP3
The 22-year-old, who has not raced a single-seater since suffering back injuries in a Formula Renault 3.5 crash in 2012, has tested for the team in recent weeks, and completes its 2014 line-up alongside Nick Yelloly and Alfonso Celis Jr.
"For my single-seater career, I always hoped my injury was a bump in the road, not the end of the road," said Stanaway, who has raced in the Porsche Supercup and World Endurance Championship since returning to racing.
"I am extremely grateful to have another opportunity on the single-seater ladder, and the GP3 series is an ideal place for me to have that."
Team boss Teddy Yip Jr added: "Richie is a real talent whose progress we always followed through the ranks, and we're delighted to have the opportunity to race with him now.
"Like us all, Richie is hungry for success, and has fitted in extremely well, and we look forward to a successful season."
Stanaway made four GP3 starts towards the end of the 2011 season with ART, which included a victory on his debut weekend at Spa.
He will continue to compete in GT racing for Aston Martin alongside his GP3 campaign.
