Marc Gene to race for Jota LMP2 team in WEC at Le Mans and Spa
Audi reserve driver Marc Gene will race for the Jota Zytek LMP2 team in the Le Mans 24 Hours
The Spaniard, who won Le Mans in 2009 with Peugeot, will drive Jota Sport's Zytek-Nissan Z11SN at Le Mans in June and also in the Spa 6 Hours round of the World Endurance Championship in May together with sportscar newcomer Harry Tincknell and Simon Dolan.
The Spaniard's placement at Jota is allied to the team's deal with Audi for Filipe Albuquerque to race for it in the five-round European Le Mans Series.
Gene is effectively taking Albuquerque's seat when the Portuguese steps up to drive the third Audi R18 e-tron quattro at Le Mans and Spa.
Audi Sport boss Wolfgang Ullrich said: "It's a perfect scenario for Marc racing at Spa and Le Mans to keep race fit.
"If Audi Sport needs him at Le Mans, this arrangement means he is race sharp."
Gene thanked Audi for giving him the opportunity to race at Spa and Le Mans.
"I'm present at both races as Audi's reserve driver so it makes sense me substituting for Filipe," he said.
"Racing is very important, to keep me sharp and up to speed."
Jota team boss Sam Hignett added that Gene's "knowledge and experience is something everyone at Jota Sport will all learn from".
Gene will test the Jota Zytek at the official ELMS test at Paul Ricard next week.
