'Angry' Ogier wants to regain WRC championship lead after Mexico
An "angry" Sebastien Ogier has declared he wants to be leading the World Rally Championship when he returns to Europe following this week's Rally Mexico
The Frenchman is five points behind his Volkswagen team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala following his mistake when he slid off the road and out of the lead in Sweden.
Ogier says that round-two blunder served as a wake-up call and made him even more determined to take back-to-back wins in Leon.
"Maybe I relaxed a bit too much in Sweden and sometimes something like this is necessary to remind you to give your best all of the time," he said.
"I missed some concentration and it's gone [the championship lead], but maybe this is the positive point to come from this.
"It did get me a little bit more angry for this event."
Despite running second on the road behind Latvala on Friday, when both VWs will face the worst of the stage conditions, Ogier says the win is all he is interested in.
"I'm confident I can fight for the victory," said Ogier, "my starting position is not as bad as Jari-Matti's. Victory is the only aim here."
Acknowledging that he is in the worst place on the road for the opening day, Latvala said: "I think this is good punishment for leading the championship!
"It's a nice feeling to be at the top of the table, but it will be hard work here.
"Sebastien will be really strong here - he dominated this rally last year.
"I want a top three from this rally, I want more points.
"I won't worry if he goes home in the lead of the championship - it's the position at the end of the season that matters."
