Nikolay Karamishev plans partial WTCC campaign in 2014
Nikolay Karamishev is aiming to contest three rounds of next year's World Touring Car Championship in the secondary TC2 class
The Russian drove for Campos in the series last year, contesting his home Moscow event and the Porto street race, where he took a best finish of 16th in both races.
Karamishev confirmed he intends to enter the series in a TC2 SEAT Leon. AUTOSPORT understands the Moscow event is likely to be one of three rounds he contests.
"We rebuilt our Leon TDi through the winter to TC2 spec," Karamishev said.
"My main objective is to learn European circuits to prepare well for the 2015 campaign, when I'll try for a full WTCC programme."
Alongside his select WTCC programme, Karamishev has purchased the ex-Yvan Muller RML Chevrolet for a full campaign in the European Touring Car Cup.
He completed a full campaign in the series' SMT class last year, winning at Monza and finished fourth overall.
"We have bought the ex-Muller Cruze and our target is to fight for race wins and ultimately the title," the 25-year-old said.
"The level of the field will rise significantly this year as a number of private WTCC teams plan to step down to the ETCC.
"We will join forces with [Ukrainian driver] Igor Skuz, who bought the former factory Chevrolet of Alain Menu, and hope to be competitive.
"Last year taught me a lot as I had some really good races, but also some incidents and technical issues, which cost me some valuable points. So this time continuity will be the key."
