Oliver Webb to make full-time LMP2 sportscar switch in 2014

Oliver Webb will switch from single-seaters to the LMP2 sportscar division full-time in 2014

The 22-year-old Briton was announced as part of OAK Racing's Daytona 24 Hours line-up on Thursday.

He has revealed that he will drive in the United SportsCar Championship, the World Endurance Championship or the European Le Mans Series at the wheel of a P2 car in the coming season.

Webb raced in Formula Renault 3.5 last year.

"I have different options and I am narrowing them down at the moment," he told AUTOSPORT.

"It will come down to budget, but also which option will generate the most success in the long-term. I'm not looking just at 2014."

Webb said that one of his options for 2014 was with the French OAK team, whose Morgan-Nissan LMP2 he will share with Olivier Pla, Roman Rusinov and Gustavo Yacaman in the Daytona USC opener on January 25/26.

"OAK is one of the teams I am talking to, for sure, but there are others," he said.

"The chance to do Daytona with them came up and it covers the bases if I end up doing USC, but it also gets my name out there at the start of the season."

Webb, who made a handful of GT outings last season in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, explained that he had "fallen in love" with driving an LMP2 during a one-day test at Navarra in Sebastien Loeb Racing's ORECA-Nissan 03 in December.
