Yvan Muller has no doubts that Sebastien Loeb can win races in his first year in the World Touring Car Championship, given how impressive he has been in testing for Citroen.
The duo, who between them boast 13 world championship crowns, have already tested several times as Citroen prepares for its inaugural assault on the WTCC.
Muller believes the level Loeb has already reached, in terms of both speed and technical understanding, have marked him out as a potential racewinner.
Loeb has no previous experience of the WTCC, but made a seamless move into circuit racing in 2013 as he won a race and claimed two podiums en route to finishing fourth in the FIA GT Series.
"Some people think Sebastien might not be on the pace, but from what I've seen already he'll be there," Muller told AUTOSPORT.
"Can he win? Yeah, no problem.
"He's a very clever man and technically excellent - on a technical level he's among the top three or four drivers I've ever worked with.
"His feedback is very strong, to the point where, while of course he is learning from me, I have also picked things up from him too.
"I was really impressed with his performances [testing] at Monza. He was quite fast, but more than that his contributions were excellent.
"He's not a nine-time champion for nothing; he's doing his utmost to learn everything he can.
"His championship potential is more difficult to call, as we don't know where we are compared to our rivals yet, but he can definitely win races."
