Daniel Cammish has been named British Club Driver of the Year at the AUTOSPORT Awards in London
Autosport Awards
The Autosport Awards are a series of awards presented by motor racing magazine Autosport to drivers that have achieved significant milestones each season. Some of the presentations are selected by the general public via a reader's poll.
The 24-year-old Briton, who dominated British Formula Ford this season, beat McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award finalists Jake Hughes and Chris Middlehurst and Clio Cup UK, Ginetta GT Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup GB champions Josh Files, Tom Ingram and Michael Meadow to the prize.
He received his award from Lotus Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean to join an illustrious list of former winners including David Coulthard, Dario Franchitti and Andy Priaulx.
"It looked harder at some times than others, it was an interesting year," he said. "I'd love to step up to touring cars next year. I've worked hard my whole career to have my shot and I think I'm worthy of it.
"I'm going to work hard to be back here next year."
Cammish in AUTOSPORT's Stars of Tomorrow - May 2013
Cammish's single-seater career started in 2009 with a dual FFord and ADAC Formula Masters campaign, and he stayed in FFord the following year, winning twice on his way to finishing third.
Sixth place in Formula Renault UK followed in 2011, but his Eurocup graduation the next year was cut short after a serious accident at the opening round left him with a broken pelvis.
He chose the revamped-for-2013 Formula Ford championship to make his racing return, and used his experience to devastating effect.
The Yorkshireman won 24 races from 24 starts, recording 22 pole positions and 19 fastest laps, to become the series' leading race-winner in the modern era.
