European F3 runner-up Felix Rosenqvist to test A1GP 'revival' car

Rosenqvist and fellow Swede John Bryant-Meisner will be in action at Navarra on Friday and Saturday as they assess the nascent Formula Acceleration 1 series.

FA1 is a Dutch initiative from the leading figures behind GP2 team MP Motorsport, using the old A1GP Lola-Zytek chassis.

Teams will be given the cars at the beginning of the test and operate them for the duration, before handing them back to the FA1 organisers.

The Swedish squad will be run at the test by German Formula 3 Cup team Performance Racing, which ran cars in A1GP.

Performance boss Bobby Issazadhe said: "We're dipping our toes into it and seeing what it's about. We're reviving our old A1GP team for the test, including our engineer David Luff.

"We will not just assess the cars and infrastructure, but also the possibility of launching a project that allows us to showcase the true talent of Swedish motorsport.

"To that cause, I'm glad that the first two to take driving duties will be Felix and John - two great kids and two very gifted drivers.

"But F3 remains our bread and butter, and we are hoping to do German or British next season, or both."

Both Rosenqvist (in 2010) and Bryant-Meisner (this season) have won races in German F3 with Performance.

Rosenqvist said: "I'm looking forward to trying out the new FA1 car; it certainly seems to be a bit of a beast, with wide tyres and a 550bhp engine.

"It can only add to my experience, and it'll be good to work with Bobby and the rest of Performance Racing again following our successful season together in 2010.

"FA1 is not part of the plan for my future competitive career, but I'll obviously do my best to help the team out with the evaluation of the car at Navarra - and I'm sure I will enjoy it a lot!"
